Siouxland District Health Department is committed to helping create healthy inclusive communities that are designed to include people with disabilities. We work to reduce barriers and increase accessibility through policy, system, and environmental changes. This is being done in conjuction with SIMPCO and other community partners through our All Abilities Coalition. 

All Abilities Coalition

Community partners from across Siouxland gather every other month to work on initiatives that aim to create a healthy inclusive community. Initiatives focus on reducing barriers, increasing accessibility, and creating more physical activity opportunities for people with disabilities. Onsite Accessibility Assessments

We provide a  free onsite CHII assessment to businesses and organizations located in Woodbury County. This assessment is designed to help entities reduce barriers and improve accessibility so all individuals are able to access their buildings, services and programs. Wheelchair Charging Stations

Wheelchair charging stations provide individuals who use motorized mobility devices such as electric wheelchairs or scooters and opportunity to get a full charge in a approximately 30 minutes.  These devices provide opportunities for individuals to use amenities in our community without the fear of running out of battery or having to leave and return home before running out.  SDHD has worked with several community partners to install wheelchair charging stations a various locations in Sioux City and rural Woodbury County. • Snyder Bend Park (under picnic shelter): 2924 Snyder Bend Rd, Salix, IA 51052
• Woodbury County Fair Grounds (inside storm shelter/restroom building across from fair office): 206 Fair St, Moville, IA 51039
